Out of the Mouth of Babes

Parents: pay attention to the words your young children are speaking! Too often parents shrug off things their young ones are talking about as babble or part of a vivid imagination. But I believe they are hearing straight from the heart of God since their spirit is pure and innocent. The enemy that would cause them to speak untruths has not violated their conscience. Joel 2:28 says that God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh and I believe this is what we are witnessing through the very young today.

I’ve been paying close attention to the things my two-year-old granddaughter Olivia shares. Since Bob’s passing Olivia has shared incredible visions with her parents and myself regarding her Pop-Pop who now lives in God’s house in heaven. Clearly she saw Bob’s heavenly house and stated that he has eagles all over his house. She said that his eyes are now open and he doesn’t hurt anymore. Olivia does not know that Bob was considered an eagle because he was a seer prophet. I believe this to be a true and accurate word because I’m sure his heavenly home is full of little eagles.

As I observe her, she watches and waits intently then she speaks. Olivia sees angels all the time and pays close attention to them and their activity. She is such a joyous child; I believe she is interacting with angels continuously.

Recently Olivia spent the night with me and before breakfast she began telling me about two longtime friends of Bob’s and mine. Both these men have the same first name yet she was very clear about each one and the word she had for them. I found it profound. (I’ll use the names Sam Smith and Sam Jones as to not disclose their identity.) She called the first man by his full name and said, “Sam Smith, where are you?” She said it a couple times very emphatically. It reminded me of God walking in the garden after the fall and asking Adam the same question. Where are you? (Genesis 3:9)

I believe this is a question God is asking His body. Where are you? Are you walking with Him? Are you waiting on Him? Are you hiding from Him? Are you doing your own thing and hoping He turns His head and looks the other way? Where are you?

Next Olivia said, “Sam Jones is not in the box anymore!” Then she said, “Sam Jones is coming to visit me and he’s not in the box anymore.” She was right on target. Sam Jones is coming to visit her and since Bob’s passing, Mr. Jones’s ministry has been catapulted. He has lived a life of obedience to God and servant-hood to his fellow brethren. Now the lid has come off his box and God is exalting him into his ministry. I believe God is taking the lid off many boxes Himself. There are many who have been hidden in Him and training for reining. Leadership has passed them over many times because they didn’t have degrees or a realm of great influence. But in this day God is resisting the proud and exalting the humble. The true bride of Christ is coming out of the box!

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 14:11)

During lunch that day I began praying in tongues while Olivia finished her meal. Suddenly she stopped eating and sat back on her chair and closed her eyes. I believe she was listening to the Holy Spirit, and then she began to speak. First she said, “They all pray together!” I felt she meant the variation of tongues and languages coming together in unity of the spirit. Next she said, “God is praying!” When we speak to God, spirit to Spirit, He responds. And lastly Olivia said, “they pray at my church.” She attends a spirit filled church that focuses on family unity and love. I believe she was seeing the unity of the brethren in the fellowship.

Mouse Droppings in the Milk

This morning I had a dream where parents were pouring milk from a carton into their babies’ bottles. Seemed pretty natural to me until I looked in the bottom of the empty carton where there were mouse droppings. I realized adults had been feeding this to their children and didn’t even know it.

As parents our first ministry is to our children. They love and trust us and believe the things we speak to them. Therefore it’s the responsibility of the parents to get a solid scriptural foundation and teach their children the truth. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” Not only do the parents perish but they pave the way for their children’s demise as well.

The prophet Isaiah says the mouse represents the works and thoughts of the mind and unsanctified it’s an abomination to God.

Those who [attempt to] sanctify themselves and cleanse themselves to enter [and sacrifice to idols] in the gardens, following after one in the midst, eating hog’s flesh and the abomination [creeping things] and the [mouse—their works and their thoughts] shall come to an end together, says the Lord. (Isaiah 66:17 AMP)

The Great Deception

There’s a great deception in the body of believers right now but we must know the truth and teach it to our children before the enemy gains access to their innocence. If we take the time to teach our babes they will be well prepared to stand against the wiles of the enemy when he prowls like a lion to see who he can destroy. Satan only has power against people who don’t know the truth. He needs our consent and co-operation to attack us. When we lack truth, we give him an open door and a welcome mat to enter our domain and sphere of authority. We’re rendered powerless against him when we believe the wiles of the devil. His wiles are twisted truths that we believe because we don’t know the living Word.

The enemy is after our children and he’ll gain their very soul if we don’t teach them right from the beginning. Babies can only drink milk for the first few months of their life. The bible draws a comparison from this to spiritual babes. If the devil can get a hook in our children through the lack of knowledge of the truth, he’ll inflict fear, doubt and unbelief. The truth will always set them free (John 8:32) but as parents and grandparents we must rally around these precious little ones and guide them in the footsteps of righteousness, love and truth. By doing this we give them a firm foundation in Christ our chief cornerstone. These little ones must grow up from a young age knowing who Christ is in them. By knowing their spiritual authority they will defeat the enemy every time if they stay in peace and love. Christ already did it, they just need to understand it and walk in the authority.

We, as parents and grandparents can reverse this cycle of deception of the enemy by us first knowing the Word then feeding our babies the mature milk of the word.  After all, children have the same Holy Spirit as adults. They only need to mature in spiritual gifting and they need people that are led by the Holy Spirit to guide them into these truths.

These are the days that Joel prophesied, where God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh. So don’t judge the container it comes in instead judge the word and examine your conscience. The container might be pint sized but it will be pure and accurate from an undefiled conscience.

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. (Joel 2:28-29)
