Let There Be

Let There Be “LIGHT”

LET THERE BE “LIGHT”

An amazing thing happened the other day as family and friends were gathered in my living room for a time of fellowship. Sometimes profound things happen that go unnoticed or perhaps we simply pay them no attention. On this particular day in early June it was quite warm outside. The late afternoon sun was beating against the patio doors facing the west side of the house. The vertical blinds were drawn in order to keep the living room cooler as the hot sun beat against the windowpanes.

In the midst of conversation, our friend’s son noticed the sun beaming through a crack in the verticals onto a painting of Jesus that hangs on the wall near the patio doors. The painting is that of Jesus walking on the seashore while He’s looking down as the water is lapping at His feet. The scripture inscribed on the painting is John 8:12

“I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.” (John 8:12 NKJ)

We were all in amazement as we looked at this painting. From the angle the light shone onto the painting, it appeared as though the Light of God was beaming forth through the eyes of Christ. The light that began from His forehead shined ever so brightly as if lighting a path. It looked like a searchlight upon the waters. Then the beam of light grew wider as it stretched downward from the painting across the wall and onto the bookcase below the painting. There the light shone brightly as it stretched across the wing of a beautiful angel figurine on top of the bookcase.

Here are some of the things I felt the Lord was revealing through this painting.

The Light Of The World

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

In Him is no darkness because He is the Light of the world and those who follow Him become His light bearers. Therefore I believe the Lord is walking on the sea of restless humanity shedding His light upon the souls of those who remain in darkness. He is beckoning them, “Come to Me! Today is the day of your salvation!” He does not turn around nor look back but keeps His eyes fixed on the majesty of His light. He is leading the way to the cross of salvation.

The glory of the Lord is settling upon the restless waters and uncovering everything that is not sanctified in Him. Therefore the trash of the world is washing ashore. But the Light of God’s Love is summoning the lost, downtrodden and destitute to come to Him. Some have only lost their way and need to get back on track. While others have been treading water for a long time and afraid to make a commitment. Yet a great multitude have been swimming in the miry muck filled with hatred, lust, doubt, unbelief, anger, fear and false gods.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. (Psalms 29:3-4)

The Lord is calling the names of the lost out of the whirlwind over the restless sea of humanity. Some will hear their name through a gentle whisper with the rolling of the waves. While others will hear their name called through a powerful clap of thunder. His voice is powerful and full of majesty. There will be no mistaking the voice of the Lord as He calls forth the harvest. The voice of the Lord is calling the lost to come to Him today. Do not harden your hearts like the children of Israel. Embrace Him now and let the Light of His Love shine upon you.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, (Hebrews 3:7-9)

Angels Of The Lord

I believe the Lord was highlighting the angel as a reminder of several things. Bob would say that most angels are unemployed because we don’t ask them to help us. The only testimony an angel has is when they help us minister. When we call upon them to assist in ministry, they do the work according to the Word we speak.

Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. (Psalms 103:20)

Angels Release Power

There are angels of light that release power. When Peter was chained in prison, an angel of the Lord shined light into the prison and released the chains that kept him bound. I believe that in the same way today, as we enter more fully into the harvest, we must call upon angels for assistance. Can you imagine the power being released during this time of great harvest? We aren’t going to be able to do this alone. We need to begin to call upon them to assist. Do they replace the Holy Spirit? – No never! But according to Psalms 103:20 they do His Word and we need not be bashful. Remember, pride will keep us from entering into the fullness of what God has for us.

And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands. Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.” (Acts 12:6-8)

Angels That Gather

The wicked and righteous aka wheat and tares have grown together and are now at the point of maturity. The Lord is sending out His angels that gather to draw out and pluck up all forms of offense from His kingdom. He’s removing any form of inequity that would cause a stumbling block.

The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness (Matthew 13:41)

Follow Me

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)

Jesus told His disciples to “Follow Him” and He would make them fishers of men. (Matthew 4:19) One by one, James, John, Peter and the other disciples left their old way of life behind and followed the Lord. There was never a second thought or delay. They simply followed the Lamb of God, the Teacher, the Healer, the living Word and the Light of the World.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (John 10:27)

Today He is speaking the same words. “Follow Me and I will make you a fisher of all mankind.” Today is the day of salvation! It’s the time we have all been waiting for because the harvest is here and we are His disciples. We are called to “go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” (Matthew 28:19a) For some the “nations” might be our next-door neighbor, the grocery clerk, fellow students, flight attendant or stranger on the street. For others your harvest field will take you to other cities, states or continents. Your harvest field is wherever God has placed you in that moment in time. Take advantage of your opportunity – don’t squander it.

In Summary

It was no mistake that the Lord highlighted this painting and angel with His glorious light. The neat thing is; the young man who noticed it first was visiting from South Africa. Here again this speaks to me about the anointed youth around the world being a part of the harvest.

I believe God is shining His Light on all of humanity and separating the wheat and tares. He is calling mankind to come to Him so He can make them a fisher of men. The harvest truly is plentiful but the laborers are few. (Matthew 9:37) Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (Matthew 9:38) Let each one of us take our rightful position in the harvest field of time.
