Revelation on Pentecost

Revelations on Pentecost with Bob Jones

by Paul Keith Davis

The feast of Pentecost 2003 began at sundown June 5th and extended until the following evening. Thankfully, the Lord released strategic revelation that is continuing to provide further clarity into His heart for this season.

It seems there is presently an escalation in the release of Heavenly resources and provision. Many individuals who have been prepared for this hour are beginning to touch higher realms of Heaven. We are receiving numerous reports of wonderful healings and miracles as well as greater revelation and insight.

Naturally, there are other issues of concern that we must continually bring before the Lord in intercession. We cannot forget the important significance of political decisions related to Israel in this crucial time. Our president is a righteous and Godly man. We must continue to ask the Lord for wise counselors to surround him, as well as an ear to hear the wisdom of Heaven, particularly as it relates to Israel. We desperately need the “roadmap” of Heaven, not the blueprint of men in dealing with the land of Israel.

Furthermore, there are other warnings that came during this season that we will address in future articles. Some related to floods and turbulent weather patterns, particularly in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as an escalation in mysterious illnesses and disease. However, for now we will strictly limit this brief outline to the commissioning and “open door” presently before us.

Be Strong and of Good Courage

The revelations began for Bob at 1:30 AM with the important commissioning of Joshua following the death of Moses. The admonition came from Joshua 1:9. It is an interesting affirmation that at the same time, Wanda received instruction from Deuteronomy 9:1.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Hear, O Israel! You are crossing over the Jordan today to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, great cities fortified to heaven. (Deuteronomy 9:1)

As we have mentioned in numerous articles and messages, there is a certain application of Moses and Joshua related to this generation and the prior who experienced the tremendous healing movement which began in 1946. The initial release of that notable expression of Heavenly power began with an individual who was visited by an angelic messenger and commissioned in the order of Moses. In many respects, that generation could be characterized through the ministry of Moses.

Now, over 50 years later, we are standing on the bank of “spiritual Jordan.” Many individuals and ministries are being commissioned in the order of Joshua. Although the same Spirit that rested upon Moses was imparted to Joshua, he nonetheless performed an entirely unique and distinguished function from Moses. That in itself is an important directive. Although we may receive the gifts and anointing or “mantle” that rested upon someone else, that expression of Heavenly virtue remains unique to our individuality and generational mandate. We are not to emulate or copy others but remain faithful to who the Lord created us to be and seek to imitate the Lord Jesus.

A Further Affirmation

On Aug. 7, 1997 Bob, Wanda and I, along with Nick & Bonnie Burkardt, were traveling to Mobile, Alabama for a meeting that evening. At 10 minutes before 11 a.m. the Spirit of Prophecy entered the van in a very pronounced way. Initially, Bob began to prophesy words of exhortation concerning individuals, some of which have already been fulfilled.

He then began to recite, “be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be dismayed for I am with you wherever you go”. Immediately I recognized that he was quoting Joshua 1:9. I then recalled that I had in my Bible a copy of a commission from this same passage given to a powerfully anointed prophet of the prior generation. As we began reading the document we noticed that the Lord gave this commission by divine visitation on August 7, 1957 at 11 a.m. The prophet had been given an open vision of a new commission for his ministry and actually wrote in his Bible the revelation that was granted to him and its date and time. He recorded it in his own handwriting around the Joshua chapter 1 introduction. At approximately the same hour on the same date forty years prior, a commission was given out of Joshua 1:9.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Primarily, this prophetic charge recognizes the unfolding of a different divine attribute inherent in the Lord’s nature. To Moses, the Lord revealed Himself as the Lawgiver; But to Joshua he was now manifesting Himself as Captain of the Host and the perfect spiritual Warrior.

The Bible foretells the Lord demonstrating Himself to a generation as the One who is Faithful and True to execute justice and wage war. (Revelation 19:11) He will likewise impart those same qualities to an “overcoming” body of believers who participate with Him in the expression of His Kingdom.

A Seven Year Season

The commission in 1957 immediately preceded a seven-year release of the Spirit of Revelation. This commission also marked a transition in the Spirit denoting the change of leadership from Moses to Joshua. Even though Joshua was anointed with the spirit of Moses, he had a different ministry. A generation of mighty warriors shall soon emerge, who will be men and women of great valor and spiritual authority like unto that of Joshua. The Lord is also going to cover them with the “shadow of His Hand,” that is a cloud of illumination, to bring insight with understanding concerning the prophetic Scriptures and the comprehension of the mysteries of the Kingdom reserved for this hour.

As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events? He said, “Go your way Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. (Daniel 12:8-9)

The prophet Daniel foresaw this day and articulated from the Lord the promise of spiritual revelation with comprehension involving the secrets of His kingdom and the mysteries of God. We must be anointed with the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to fully engage the revelatory realm essential in this mandate. Furthermore, a spirit of valor and courage will also be necessary to establish the revelation of truth reserved for this generation. That is presently being imparted to whomsoever is willing!

Only the Lord could have orchestrated the release of this commission on exactly the same date as it was given in 1957. We share these details in hopes that it will help communicate the power with which this commission came and the importance of it in the season ahead.

A Dangerous Time

On this past day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit further spoke to Bob and indicated that this is a dangerous time, but His champions are willing to live “dangerously.” Note, however, this is not saying to live carelessly or presumptuously… only that we are willing to trust the Lord and take a chance on Him.   Israel trusted the council of Heaven in taking Jericho, although the instruction seemed foolish and dangerous. Their obedience facilitated great victory.

This will be a season to experience new things (Isaiah 48:6-7) and even be willing to “walk in the lion’s den” if so directed. In Daniel’s obedience and service to the Lord, he found himself thrust into a dangerous situation among a den of lions. Nonetheless, he was covered and protected and witnessed the provision of Heaven because of the righteousness of his heart.

One of the things most apparently changed in the apostles following the outpouring on the day of Pentecost was their character and mind-sets. Prior to the outpouring they were hiding behind closed doors in timidity and confusion “for fear of the Jews.” (John 20:19) However, once anointed with God’s presence through tongues of fire from heaven, the apostles were boldly and openly declaring the ways of the Kingdom in the streets. That is the kind of anointing that is presently being released.

A spiritual boldness and tenacity is being imparted that is not rooted in arrogance or pride but in humility and confidence in the Holy Spirit. From that place many will be willing to risk “the lions den” in order to faithfully adhere to the commission and mandate being entrusted to us.

Our prophetic promise is,

If you return, then I will restore you– before me you will stand; and if you extract the precious from the worthless, you will become My spokesman. They for their part may turn to you, but as for you, you must not turn to them. Then I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; and though they fight against you, they will not prevail over you; for I am with you to save you and deliver you,” declares the LORD. So I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you from the grasp of the violent.” (Jeremiah 15:19-21)

The Lord’s desire is for a righteous (Zadok) priesthood of believers who are willing to live dangerously and remain faithful to the anointing despite difficult circumstances, persecution and even confrontation if necessary. There will begin the extraction of the precious from the worthless as truth is separated from the precepts and traditions of man. To this priesthood the invitation is extended to dine with Him and minister to the Lord in intimate fellowship and divine exchange. From that place of communion, individuals will emerge with Kingdom power and authority.

Milk the Cobra

A somewhat unique expression was also given on the day of Pentecost that can best be understood through a passage in the Psalms. The phrase was, “we must milk the Cobra.” This allegorical wording is like many we discover in the Old Testament through the prophets relating to those who set themselves in opposition to God and His covenant people.

The wicked are estranged from the womb; these who speak lies go astray from birth. They have venom like the venom of a serpent; like a deaf cobra that stops up its ear, So that it does not hear the voice of charmers, or a skillful caster of spells. (Psalm 58:3-5)

Our adversary has been a “deceiver” and “beguiler” from the beginning. He is the father of lies and cannot stand in agreement with the truth because there is no truth in him. (John 8:44) When the children of Israel were overcome by the serpents in the wilderness, an antidote was provided when the brazen serpent was lifted before the eyes of the people. A spiritual antidote is presently being released through the Spirit of Truth by the hands of those specially equipped, skilled and anointed for this purpose.

To “milk the Cobra” implies the production of antivenin to be used as an antitoxin that counteracts the effects of venom from the bite of a serpent. Antivenin is used to neutralize venom— that is, the lies and deceptions that have been injected through religious spirits into the hearts of people. The directive in Revelations 3:17 expresses that the spirit of deception will be one of the most predominant issues during the end-time generation. This is characterized to us through the Laodicean church. The Scriptures point out this generation THINKS she is rich and increased in goods having need of nothing; but DOES NOT KNOW, she is wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. That is the description given by the Bible of the deceptive spirit blinding the eyes of this generation. Thankfully, the Lord is making way for an overcoming body of believers who embrace Truth as the antidote for deception and know their God and do exploits to His glory.

Both the prophet David and the apostle Paul recognized this spiritual confrontation and expressed it in their writings. The apostle Paul, is his letter to the Romans, quoted the prophets saying,

“Their throat is an open grave, with their tongues they keep deceiving, ”the poison of asps is under their lips”; ” Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness” (Romans 3:13-14)

His presentation of truth with apostolic authority provided the antidote for the poison of our adversary. The same is being prepared to be released in this hour. As promised through Daniel, many are being purified and refined in preparation as teachers with wisdom and understanding. (Daniel 12:10) The teachers with insight and those who possess wisdom shall shine with brilliance and the brightness of the firmament and turn many to righteousness as the Lord’s antidote.

The Suddenlies of Heaven

At 5:08 AM a further instruction was given to Bob related to the “suddenlies” of Heaven. Although things may seem difficult and trying, they can suddenly change. Perhaps there have been promises and visions given to some that have seemingly died on the vine. However, they can suddenly come to life and become reality.

Bob also heard a unique expression, especially for someone not electronically oriented. It was, “laptops will now come alive.” The Holy Spirit seems to be pointing to a distinguished anointing upon the writing of Biblical truth and spiritual reality. This would not be limited to books and articles but also creative expressions of songs, poetry and other means of communicating Truth.

Teachers will emerge who have encountered the Teacher and heard expressions from His lips that will provide clear and concise direction, preventing us from stepping waywardly to the right or left. The path we have been called to travel is straight and narrow. We can only remain on this path by being ushered by the Spirit of Truth and embracing every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. The Scriptures are not a matter of private interpretation, but men moved by the Holy Spirit will speak and write from the anointing of God revealing the mysteries of the Kingdom that will present the Bride without spot or wrinkle.

The teachers that will be maturing will primarily be commissioned to DIRECT the people to the Truth… He is the Truth. Christ is both the Way and the Truth and the Holy Spirit is the Guide who shows the way to the Truth. The Lord desires to be the Teacher for all who believe. Anointed instructors will present to the people the seeds of Biblical truth and point the way for each to cultivate their own relationship with the Lord. It is His great pleasure to enlighten His people in the ways of Kingdom life.

The Spirit of Restoration

On the morning of Pentecost I received a dream in which an ancient sword was being restored. It was one of great value and prominence but had been lost and only recently excavated. Our sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Although it bore the evidence of being buried, it was immediately put to use upon discovery. With it, we were able to eliminate nocturnal predators, devourers and other unclean adversaries. This seemed to also point to both the spoken and written word utilized by the Holy Spirit to expose and neutralize adversaries previously successful in devouring and stealing seeds of promise and purpose.

My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Thou art fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Thy lips; therefore God has blessed Thee forever. Gird Thy sword on {Thy} thigh, O Mighty One, {in} Thy splendor and Thy majesty! And in Thy majesty ride on victoriously, for the cause of truth and meekness {and} righteousness; let Thy right hand teach Thee awesome things. (Psalm 45:1-4)

This dream has been a further affirmation of a present release of anointing related to the Spirit of Truth and the fulfillment of personal promises. There is a specific grace that is coming to help give articulation to the revelation of Truth and the blueprint of Heaven. For us, the sword of this nature is representative of the Word of Truth and also indicative of a “word” of promise from the Holy Spirit.   We are now in a season in which personal prophetic promises are becoming reality, some of which were made years ago.

The promises could be related to issues involving the release into ministry or a higher level of ministry. It could also point to the deposit of Heavenly resources for a specific commission and mandate for which many have been prepared. Likewise, the dream is also highlighting the release of Heavenly authority to overcome the efforts of the adversary attempting to devour or prohibit those things from being manifested. There is a divine focus and determination in the heart of the Lord to see Kingdom purposes birthed and functioning fruitfully in this season.
